JOHNNIE BELL NICHOLS Mrs. Johnnie Bell (Davenport) Nichols, 83, of Readyville died January 15, 2012. She was born April 21, 1928 in Cannon County, TN. Her parents were the late Johnny Eagleton Davenport and Lena Bell (Preston) Davenport. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorris "Slick" Nichols; son, Roger Allen Nichols; brothers, Rodney Davenport and Robert William Davenport; sisters, Lorene Chester, Emma Nell Simmons, Dorothy Dean Mayo and Rilla Sue Bogle. Survivors include her sons, Gayle & Linda Nichols of Woodbury, Randall & Carolyn Nichols of Murfreesboro; daughter, Margarita & Steve Watts of Readyville; brother, Macon "Snooks" Davenport of Murfreesboro; seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchildren. She was a member of the Hillview Church of Christ. Her family said that she was always there when they needed her. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing. Spending time with family, especially, grandchildren and great granchildren was a joy for her. Cooking chicken and cornbread for family dinners was something she loved to do. Funeral services were Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 2 PM in the Smith Funeral Home chapel. David Watts and Tim Watts officiated. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Caris Hospice by contacting Smith Funeral Home.
