Mrs. Eldra Francis Alexander, 71, of Woodbury passed away after an extended illness on January 26, 2014. She was born in Dekalb County, Tennessee on October 2, 1942. Her parents were the late Travis Matthew Dunn and Opal Mae (Maynard) Dunn. Also preceding her in death are brothers, Lloyd Dunn, Arthur Dunn and Charles Dunn; sisters, Lorene Hendrixson and Wilma Corlew. She is survived by her husband, Robert "Buddy" Alexander of Woodbury; daughters, Dana & John Parton of Woodbury and Beverly Parrish of Murfreesboro; a brother, Jerry Dunn of McMinnville; sisters, Stella Radloff of Michigan, Evelyn Vestal of Missouri, Shirley Smithson of Auburntown and Linda & Jimmy Johnson of Woodbury; four grandchildren, Brandi Parton, Matthew Parton, Taylor Parrish and Valerie Parrish; as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Mrs. Alexander grew up in Auburntown with ten brothers and sisters. She graduated from the Auburntown High School. Soon after she met and fell in love with her future husband, Buddy. They would have been married 53 years on February 6th. During that time she worked at Colonial Shirt Factory and G. E. Later she went to work at MTSU in the Phillips Bookstore. She held many different positions during her time there. Finally, working as a computer tech in charge of ordering the text books before her retirement. She and Buddy enjoyed doing a lot of different things together. They spent a lot of time fishing at Center Hill Lake. She had won trophies bowling. Reading, crosstitching and quiliting were hobbies she enjoyed too. Her favorite thing to do was going to any ballgame that her grandchildren were playing in. She was a member of the Dillon Street Baptist Church. Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Monday, January 27, 2014 from 2-8 PM. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at 1 PM in the Smith Funeral Home chapel. Herb Alsup and Tony Burnett will officiate. Interment will follow in Riverside Garden. In lieu of flowers memorial donations are requested to the Dillon Street Baptist Church or Woodbury Church of Christ. Contact Smith Funeral Home for details.
