Loretta Knox

  Mrs. Loretta Knox, 74, of Readyville passed away on September 26, 2014. She was born on April 21, 1940 in Woodbury, TN. Her parents were the late Charlie Mack Graham and Jennie (Barrett) Graham. She was also preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, Lawrence Knox and by three brothers, Charlie Graham, Jackson Graham and Doris Graham. Survivors include her son, Larry Knox of Readyville; a brother, Donald “Duck” Graham of Woodbury; two sisters, Ann & C. B. Hollandsworth of Woodbury and Teresa Toy of Readyville; also surviving are several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many cousins. Mrs. Knox graduated from Woodbury Central High School in the Class of 1959. She married Lawrence the following year and they spent 49 years together. Their only son, Larry, was born a couple years later. She was a loving mother and wife. She enjoyed cooking for her family. Mrs. Knox was a hard worker. Working at several different places over the years such as, Colonial Shirt Factory, Val Dor, White Stag, Alcan, Hardee’s and Parsley’s Market. She also helped people needing someone to sit with them and kept children. Many of the children she kept affectionately called her Retta. She loved watching tv shows of all types and kept the remote handy to flip back and forth. Her dogs Brownie, Willie J. and Wolfie D. were her babies and protectors. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Sunday, September 28, 2014 from 1-8 PM and Monday, September 29, 2014 from 10-11 AM. Funeral services will follow in the Smith Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Ralph Richardson officiating. Interment will be in Thyatira Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the church or charity of your choice.
