Hazel Brown Davis

December 5, 1915 — February 22, 2016

Hazel Brown Davis, age 100, went to heaven on Monday, February 22, 2016. She joins her husband of 62 years, Ray Davis (d. 2002), and their son, Fred Davis (d. 1969), parents, Edward Brown and Emily (Sweeten) Brown for a glorious reunion. She is survived on earth by four children; Thomas Davis of Nashville, David Davis of Murfreesboro, Donna Clark and Sharon Airall of Franklin, Ky. She also leaves 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren.  Mrs. Davis was born in Beersheba Springs in Grundy County, TN on December 5, 1915. As a child, she dreamed of becoming a teacher while attending school in a one room schoolhouse. Her faith lead her to Trevecca Nazarene College where she met Ray, reared her family and actualized her dream. Her classroom was always a safe haven for children. She retired a 6th grade teacher from Pennington Elementary. She was a quiet but strong willed lady. Her church was an important part of her life. She was very active in the congregation at Smyrna Church of the Nazarene.  Mrs. Davis had a keen memory and could recite many poems, hymns and verses of scripture. She loved to tell funny little stories and jokes to family and friends. She will long be remembered for her strong but loving hands. Visitation will be at Smyrna Church of the Nazarene from 10-12 on Thurs. Feb. 25, followed by the funeral at 2pm. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, in Nashville, at 4pm. In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. www.smithfuneralhomewoodbury.net Smith Funeral Home (615)563-5337
