Doris Jernigan

Doris Jernigan, born April 13, 1945, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. She passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on June 12, 2026.

Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She shared 31 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, William Jernigan. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and cherished memories. 

She is survived by her husband, William Jernigan; her daughter, Patricia Ferguson, and son-in-law, Keith Ferguson; and her eight grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews who will forever treasure her memory. 

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Smitty and Cora Elizabeth Swann Smitty and all of her siblings. She will be remembered for her strength, kindness, love for her family, and the lasting impact she made on those fortunate enough to know her. Though she will be deeply missed, her love and legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. The family appreciates the thoughts, prayers, and support during this difficult time.
