Gerald White

May 16, 1960 — February 26, 2024

GERALD LYNN WHITE, was born May 16, 1960, to Lemuel White and Theodora White in Philadelphia, PA.

He transitioned from this earthly life to life eternal on February 26, 2024, at the Holiday House in Woodbury, TN.

Gerald was the first born of five boys and took his role as older brother very seriously.  He showed his younger brothers kindness, generosity, compassion, as well as understanding as they grew in adulthood.
These are qualities that Gerald carried with him through-out his entire life.  Gerald was never “a man much for words” he would give you his signature “chuckle” and that ever present smile, that spoke volumes.

Gerald believed in God, and the goodness of God showed and flowed thru his heart and his actions.  This love of God that flowed thru Gerald could be felt in anyone that has ever crossed paths with or spent more than a few minutes with him.  Gerald’s heart was a heart of giving.  He donated to various charitable organizations though-out his life, March of Dimes, Salvation Army, to name a couple, helping strangers just as much as he was there for those that knew him.

Gerald graduated from high school, via the Philadelphia Public School System, and briefly attended the Community College of Philadelphia, to enhance his educational endeavors.  At a very early age, Gerald was employed by his father, as all his brothers were.  After his father’s death in 1980, Gerald took the work ethic instilled in him by his father and went on to lifetime of gainful employment, with his final job being at the Amazon Fulfillment Center in Murfreesboro, TN. until his failing health rendered him incapable of working anymore.

Gerald settled in a very peaceful quiet life after retiring finding residency at the Holiday House in Woodbury, TN.  Gerald became a beloved member of the family there.  The residence loved him and he loved them.  Every year Gerald would personally hand deliver or make sure every resident in the complex got a Xmas card.  Gerald was showed a willingness to help other residents, even in his limited capacity.

Gerald has been preceded in death by his Parents, Lemuel White and Theodora White, and a brother, Jeffery Wade White.

He leaves to celebrate his life, three brothers, Darryl White, Lemuel White Jr. and Victor Darnell White, the baby of the family.  Uncle Burford Riddle, and two Aunts Cuemiah Jackson, and Earnette Lewis, nieces   Nandi Nehanda White, Nadira Pearl White, Nehanda Christine White, Sada Woodson, Precious Woodson, Shakia White, Victoria White, and Jade Carver.  Nephews Christopher White, Lemuel Isaiah White IV, Gabriel Carver, and Montez Zyel White.  And his Godson, Van Michie Jr. of Philadelphia, PA, and a host of cousins and friends.

Memorial services will be Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at 10 am, at the Holiday House, 310 S. Dillon St. Woodbury, TN.  Family and friends will offer remembrances and words of comfort to honor his life.  Share memories and condolences at www.gentrysmithfuneralhome.com.  Gentry-Smith Funeral Home, 303 Murfreesboro Rd.
