Martha Dillon Brandon

April 29, 1929 — April 12, 2026

Martha Francis Dillon Brandon was born in Woodbury, Tennessee, on April 29, 1929, daughter of Herbert John and Gladys Francis Dillon. She was raised on a farm, with four sisters and two brothers. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of sixty-six years, Charles Winston Brandon, her brothers Frank Boyd and John Hopkins (Nancy King) Dillon, sisters Julie Muszynski (Frank), Rachel Haley (Jackie) and Christine Dillon.

She is survived by her youngest sister, Elizabeth Rowe of Dunnellon, Florida, sister in law Nancy King Dillon, two daughters, Martha Lynn Brandon and Julie Brandon Barnes (Johnny) of Nashville, and son Charles W. (Chuck) Brandon (Wendy) of Orlando, Florida. Seven grandchildren, Jonas (Beth) Denny, Seth (Ingrid) Denny and Ann Denny Karl, Brandon and Bennett (Julie) Wood and Winston and Annabelle Brandon of Orlando, Florida. Great grandchildren John Luke and Amanda Denny, Steven Ligon, Waylon Wood, Grace and Caleb Denny. She had a special daughter friend, Juanita Ferguson of Durango, Colorado.

She was athletic, competitive, full of laughter. She had a great math mind, stylish and generous. She loved her church, tennis (until age 85), golf (until age 90) and bridge. Her son in law and daughter in law each said she was smart, strong and fun loving. She and Charlie enjoyed extensive traveling and volunteer work. They worshipped at Otter Creek church of Christ since 1960.

She graduated from Central High School in Woodbury where she received the State of Tennessee DAR award, and also from Draughons College in Nashville. She enjoyed golf and tennis at Richland Country Club in Nashville, and Tara Golf and Country Club in Bradenton, Florida.

We are also especially thankful to Alive Hospice, alive hospice.org and along with Donna Finto, APRN and the rest of staff at Abe’s Garden community.

Gentry-Smith Funeral Home will conduct a graveside service on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Riverside Cemetery at 2:00. Herb Alsup will officiate.
