Michaela Lynn Speck

Ms. Michaela Lynn Speck, 26, of Woodbury passed away on May 28, 2021. She was born in Murfreesboro, TN on February 22, 1995. Preceding her in death were her great grandparents, Lucille and Kato Speck, Mary Black, and Claytie Mahaffey.

She is survived by her mother, Amy Mahaffey of Woodbury; father, Gregg Speck of Murfreesboro; son, Karson; daughter, Kaydence; brothers, Michael Pethke of Murfreesboro and Matthew Speck of Woodbury; grandparents, Ronnie and Debbie Mahaffey of Woodbury, Marlene Downs of Murfreesboro, and Bobby Speck of Murfreesboro; great grandmother, Ovie Hollis of Woodbury; niece, Emery Rain; aunts, Wendy (Scott) Stacy and Jill (Doug) Halfacre; cousins, Melissa Adcock, Hollie, Haylee, Ashley, Aimee, Steven, Kaylyn, and Kendall; and best friend, Michaela "Sis" Vanderpool.

Michaela embodied a strong spirit. She was stubborn and outspoken but counterbalanced those with her humor and heart. Putting her hot-blooded nature to good use, she played rugby at Oakland High School and was a star athlete. During high school, she was always interested in doing hair, but in the latter years of her life, her strong spirit aided her in becoming a successful freelance. There was nothing and no one she loved more than her children, but her great grandmother, Lucille, was a close second. In a sense, she was part of the "I Love Lucy" club.
