Robert Earl Bishop, 91, of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away October 10, 2025, at home. Born March 16, 1934, in Dover, TN, he was preceded in death by his parents, Flodie and Allie Bishop, sons, Dewayne and Robert Bishop, and siblings. He is survived by his wife, Elisa, daughter, Jill Strickland, and stepdaughter, Joveline Paredes.
Despite early hardships, including the Great Depression and his father’s death before his birth, Robert faced life’s challenges with faith, humor, and practicality. He worked 30 years as a tractor-trailer driver for Ford Motor Company, retiring to a Murfreesboro farm. In 2013, he married Elisa, whose cheerful nature complemented his pragmatism. He loved the country song We’re Gonna Hold On by George Jones and Tammy Wynette.
A graveside service will be held at Sims-Smith Cemetery, 2117 Veterans Parkway, Murfreesboro, TN, on October 14, 2025, at 1 pm, officiated by Tim Gentry.
