Ryan Kinte Lyons, 47, of Woodbury passed away on July 6, 2026. He was born in Woodbury TN on September 1, 1978. He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Catherine Lyons and his father Robert Lee Batey, sister, Monzell Batey, uncles, Johnny Lyons, Russell Lyons, and Johnny Burger.
He leaves to cherish his memory wife, Carrie Devault, children, Xharia Lyons, Ryan Lyons, Kendrick Lyons, Aiden Williams, Lakeisha Fullilove, brothers, Robert Sherrill and Morrell McClinton, sister, Tiffany Sherrill, special aunts, Diane Lyons, Pauline Clark, and Peggy Lyons, as well as other aunts, uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Ryan grew up instilled with a strong bond of family love. His mother treasured and doted on him. That showering of love radiated throughout his extended family. They were a close-knit family, who enjoyed spending time together at family gatherings and meals. He carried that love forward into his own family with his children. Family and friends were at the heart of everything he did. His love and gentle strength helped bring an anchor and comfort to those around him.
During his time in school, he developed a love of sports and the outdoors. In high school he focused his attention on playing football. His passion for sports, especially football, stayed strong over the years. When the football or basketball game was on, he loved having his kids piled up on the couch with him to root for their team. His sons picked up that mantle and became active playing football. Ryan would often go outside with them to share his knowledge and love of the game. Tossing the ball and practicing tackling and scoring. Xharia also got involved in playing basketball. He would often shoot hoops with her. Whenever the kids had a game, he was sure to be right there cheering them on. Even though Lakeisha wasn’t into sports she didn’t lack for attention from him. He always made an effort to be present and involved with them.
Ryan was always on the go. He liked to stay busy and if it meant he could be outside, all the better. He could often be heard listening to favorite rap and R & B artists with family and friends. Occasionally, he would even tolerate some country music. On Ryan’s lighter side, he enjoyed the comedy style of Mike Epps, attending a couple of his stand-up shows. If there was a family meal he liked to help out on the grill. You could count on him coming with a healthy appetite when food was being prepared. Those gatherings offered opportunities for special family memories with lots of love and laughter.
From an early age his family lead him in a knowledge and love of God. They would often attend Full Gospel Assembly together. They would gather with church family to hear God’s word and sing songs of praise. Faith has always been an important component of their family’s day-to-day life. Leaning on the Lord in the valleys and praising him on the mountain tops through the ups and downs.
When Ryan was young, he developed some health challenges which dogged him throughout his life. He persevered to stay on the go and give his best to share his love and time with family and friends. His early passing was a devastating loss to all of them. His final gift was to donate his organs to help someone else have hope of more time with their family. That selflessness will help serve as a beacon of love and hope for them to look toward in the time to come.
Complete arrangements will be announced soon.
